White Noise Generator: White, Pink, Brown, Rain, Fan and Ocean Sounds

Mask traffic, snoring, office chatter or a noisy neighbour with a steady, soothing sound. Choose white noise (bright, like a radio hiss), pink (softer, like steady rain), brown (deep, like a waterfall), or rain, fan and ocean sounds. Everything is generated live in your browser, so there is nothing to download and it never repeats in an obvious loop. Set a sleep timer and it fades out gently.

Questions

What is the difference between white, pink and brown noise?

They differ in how much bass they have. White noise has equal energy at every pitch and sounds bright. Pink noise softens the high pitches and sounds like rain. Brown noise is deeper still, like a distant waterfall or a plane cabin. Many people find brown or pink easier to sleep to.

Is white noise safe for babies?

Many parents use it. Keep it quiet (softer than a running shower), place the phone at least 2 metres from the cot, and use the sleep timer rather than playing it all night at volume.

Does it use mobile data?

No. The sound is created on your device, so it uses no data after the page has loaded.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
