What Is My IP Address? See Your Public IP, Location and ISP

Every website you visit sees your public IP address. This tool shows it to you with the approximate city, region and country it maps to, your internet provider (ISP) and network number (ASN), and the time zone. You can also look up any other IP address, for example one from a log file or an email header.

How to find your IP address

  1. Open the page: your IP address and its details appear straight away.
  2. To check another address, type it in the box and press Look up.

Good to know

  • An address starting with 192.168, 10. or 172.16–31 is a private home or office address, not the one websites see.
  • For a website’s IP address, use the DNS Lookup tool.

Questions

How accurate is the location?

It is the location of your provider’s network, not your home. It is usually the right country and often the right city, but it can be a nearby city, and it never shows your street.

Why is my IP different on Wi-Fi and mobile data?

Each network gives you its own public address. Many mobile networks also share one address between many customers (carrier-grade NAT).

What is sent, and to whom?

To find the location, your IP address (or the address you type) is sent to GeoJS (get.geojs.io), a free public lookup service. Any website you visit can see your IP anyway. Nothing else is sent, and we store nothing.

Does a VPN change this?

Yes. With a VPN on, you see the VPN server’s address and location, which is a quick way to check the VPN is working.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
