Make sure your webcam is ready for a video call, interview or class. See yourself live, then check the camera’s real resolution (720p, 1080p, 4K), aspect ratio, megapixels and frames per second, and its name. Switch between cameras, mirror the picture, try the highest resolution it supports and save a test photo.

Good to know
- Good front lighting improves picture quality more than a better camera.
- The camera turns off when you press the button again or leave the page.
Questions
The browser says the camera is blocked. What now?
Tap the 🔒 (or ⓘ) icon next to the web address, set Camera to Allow and reload. Laptops may also have a privacy shutter or a camera key, and Windows / macOS privacy settings can block the camera.
Why is the picture black?
A privacy shutter may be closed, the camera key on your laptop may have switched it off, or another app (Zoom, Teams, another tab) may be using it.
Why is my 1080p camera showing 720p?
The camera may be limited by a slow USB port, the browser’s defaults or lighting. Press Try highest resolution; in dim light some cameras also drop the frame rate.
