An iPhone MOV that will not play on a Windows PC, a WebM screen recording a website will not accept, an MKV your TV cannot read: convert it to the format you need. In Fast mode the picture and sound are copied into the new format without re-compressing, which is quick and loses nothing; when that is not possible, the video is re-encoded.

Questions
Why does the first conversion take longer?
The video engine (ffmpeg, about 31 MB) downloads once when you start the first job; your browser keeps it for next time. After that, only your own device does the work: nothing is uploaded.
Which format plays everywhere?
MP4 (H.264 video with AAC sound). Phones, computers, TVs, WhatsApp and websites all play it. Choose WebM only when a website asks for it.
Why is the converted file a different size?
Fast mode keeps the same picture data, so the size barely changes. A re-encoded file can be larger or smaller depending on the format. Use Compress Video to make it smaller on purpose.
Is there a file size limit?
Everything happens in your browser’s memory, so very large files (over about 1 GB) may not fit, especially on phones. Trim or compress long recordings first; a computer handles bigger files than a phone.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.
Is it free?
Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
