How is WPM worked out?
Typing speed is counted the standard way: every 5 characters you type correctly (letters, spaces and punctuation) count as one “word”, and that number is divided by the minutes you typed. So 250 correct characters in one minute is 50 WPM. Mistakes you leave in do not count towards your speed, and accuracy shows how many of your keystrokes were right.
Why do I need 85% accuracy to win?
Without it you could win by rushing and leaving mistakes. Real speed means correct typing, so a race only counts when at least 85 of every 100 keystrokes are right.
Is the ghost a real person?
No. It is a steady pace, like a pacer in running: it types at exactly the speed you pick, never faster or slower.
Where are my results saved?
Only on this device, in your browser’s storage. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account. If you clear your browser data or switch to another phone or computer, your past results will not be there.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.
