Times Tables Quiz: Learn and Practise the 2 to 20 Multiplication Tables

Learn the multiplication tables the way children chant them: pick any table from 1 to 20, read it up to ×10, ×12 or ×20, and press Read it aloud to hear “7 times 1 is 7, 7 times 2 is 14…”. When ready, choose which tables to practise and play a ten-question quiz with four choices. Facts your child gets wrong are remembered on this device and come up again until they are answered correctly.

How to learn times tables

  1. In Learn, choose a table and how far to go (×10, ×12 or ×20).
  2. Tap a line to hear it, or press Read it aloud for the whole table.
  3. Open Quiz, tap the tables to practise and press Start.
  4. Tap the right answer; a round has ten questions.

Good to know

  • Look for patterns: the 9 times table answers add up to 9 (18 → 1+8, 27 → 2+7).
  • Multiplying works both ways: 3 × 8 is the same as 8 × 3, so every table you learn makes the others easier.

Questions

Why is there no sound?

Sounds use the speech voices built into your phone or computer. Turn the volume up and check silent mode. If one language stays silent, your device has no voice for it yet: on Android add it in Settings → Text-to-speech, on iPhone in Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices, on Windows in Settings → Time & language → Speech.

Which tables should be learnt first?

Usually 2, 5 and 10 first, then 3, 4 and 8, then 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12. Many Indian schools also learn tables (pahade) up to 20.

How does it remember tricky facts?

Any question answered wrongly is saved on this device. In later quizzes about a third of the questions are taken from these tricky facts until they are answered correctly.
