Good to know
- The rule: every row, every column and every 3 × 3 box holds the numbers 1 to 9 exactly once.
- Start with the number that already appears most often: the pad shows how many of each are left.
- Keyboard shortcuts: N turns notes on or off, H gives a hint, 0 or Backspace erases.
- Turn off “Show my mistakes” for a real challenge, where you only find out at the end.
Questions
How are the puzzles made?
Each puzzle starts as a complete, valid grid. Numbers are then taken away one at a time, and after every removal the solver checks that the puzzle still has exactly one answer. That is why every puzzle here can be solved by logic, without guessing.
What is the difference between the levels?
Easy leaves about 40 numbers on the board, Medium about 32, Hard about 27 and Expert as few as possible (around 23–26). Fewer clues means longer chains of reasoning before each number is certain.
Can the solver handle any puzzle?
Yes, any standard 9 × 9 sudoku. It needs at least 17 clues, because no proper sudoku with fewer clues has a single answer. If the numbers you typed break the rules, the clashing squares turn red.
Does my game get saved?
Yes. Your current game, its timer and your best time for each level are kept in this browser, so you can close the page and carry on later.
Do I need to install an app or sign up?
No. The game runs right here in your browser on phones, tablets and computers. Nothing to download, no account, and it keeps working if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
Is my data private?
