Klondike is the patience game most people simply call solitaire. Turn the seven columns into neat runs of alternating colours from King down to Ace, and move every card onto the four foundation piles, Ace to King in each suit. Choose Draw 1 for a relaxed game or Draw 3 for the classic challenge. Built for phones: tap a card, then tap where it goes.
loading toolHow to play solitaire
- Choose Draw 1 or Draw 3; a new game is dealt.
- Tap a face-up card (it gets a yellow outline), then tap the column or foundation to move it there.
- Tap the stock (top left) to turn over cards; tap it when empty to start again.
- When every card is face up, press Finish to send them all home.
Good to know
- Turn over the face-down cards in the columns as early as you can: that is where the game is won.
- Do not rush cards to the foundations if you still need them to build columns.
- Hint shows a possible move when you are stuck.
Questions
What are the rules?
In the columns, place a card on one that is one higher and the opposite colour (a red 9 on a black 10). Only a King can go into an empty column. On the foundations, build each suit upwards from Ace. Turn cards from the stock when you run out of moves; the stock can be recycled as often as you like.
Can every game be won?
No. Most Draw 1 games can be won with careful play, but some deals cannot be won at all, and Draw 3 is harder. Use Undo freely to explore.
What does tapping a card twice do?
It moves the card to the best place it can go: a foundation if possible, otherwise a column. With the one-tap option on, cards that can go to a foundation go there straight away.
