Shift Roster Planner: Duty Rota for Day, Night and Off Shifts

Plan who works when without a spreadsheet. List your team, choose a common pattern like 2 days, 2 nights, 2 off, 4 on 4 off, or the Pitman 12-hour rota, or type your own with letters (D day, N night, M morning, E evening, G general, O off, L leave). Pick a start date and the roster is drawn instantly, with people staggered so shifts are spread across the team and a daily count of who is on duty.

Questions

What does “stagger” do?

Everyone follows the same pattern but starts at a different point in it, so on any day some people are on days, some on nights and some off. Untick it if everyone should work the same days.

How do I write my own pattern?

Type one letter per day for one full cycle. For example DDDNNNOOO means three day shifts, three night shifts, then three days off, and then it repeats.

Can I edit one person’s day?

Not in the grid. Download the CSV and open it in Excel or Google Sheets to make one-off swaps, then print from there.

Where is my data kept?

Only in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it, so copy or download anything important.

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.
