How to use a ready-made regex

  1. Pick a pattern from the list.
  2. Read what it checks; examples that pass and fail are filled in.
  3. Type your own values to test, then copy the pattern.

Good to know

  • Patterns starting “Find:” pull every match out of a block of text instead of checking one value.
  • Always validate important data on the server too: browser checks can be skipped.

Questions

Can a regex check that an email really exists?

No. It only checks the shape. To know an address works, send it a confirmation email.

Why does the date pattern accept 30 February?

Regex checks characters, not calendars. Check real dates in your code after the pattern passes.

Can I use these in Python, PHP or Java?

Yes. They avoid features that only one language has. In Python use re.fullmatch; in PHP wrap the pattern in slashes.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
