QR Code Scanner: Scan with Your Camera or from a Photo

Read any QR code with your phone or laptop camera, or from a photo or screenshot you already have, which is handy on a computer or when someone sends a QR code on WhatsApp. The tool shows what is inside before you act: the website a link goes to, the name and password of a Wi-Fi code, who a UPI code pays, or the details on a contact card.

How to scan a QR code

  1. Tap Scan with camera and allow the camera, or open a photo or screenshot of the code.
  2. Hold steady until the code is found (it stops by itself).
  3. Read what the code contains, then copy it or open it.

Good to know

  • If a photo will not scan, crop it closer to the code and make sure it is sharp.
  • A Wi-Fi code shows the network and password, so you can type them on a device without a camera.

Questions

Can I scan a QR code that is on my own screen?

Yes. Take a screenshot (or copy the image) and open or paste it here with Ctrl + V. The code is found in the picture.

Is it safe to open any QR link?

Not always. Scammers stick fake QR codes on posters and parking meters. That is why the website name is shown first: open it only if you trust it.

Is my camera picture sent anywhere?

No. Frames from the camera are checked inside your browser by the open-source jsQR library and are never saved or uploaded.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
