A calm, clever puzzle of our own design. You get one numbered tile at a time; place it on any empty square. When three or more equal numbers touch side by side, they merge into a single tile one higher, right where you placed the last tile. Set up chains where one merge triggers the next, keep the board from filling up, and chase a new high score.
loading toolHow to play number merge
- Look at the next tile shown above the board.
- Tap an empty square to place it.
- Make groups of three or more equal numbers to merge them.
- Keep going until the board is full; try to beat your best score.
Good to know
- Keep similar numbers near each other so they can join later.
- Place the merging tile where you want the bigger number to end up.
- Keyboard: arrows move, Enter places.
Questions
How does a chain work?
If three 1s merge into a 2 next to two other 2s, those three 2s merge straight away into a 3, and so on. Chains score extra because every merge in the chain adds points.
How are points counted?
Each merge scores 10 × the number of tiles joined × their value. Merging four 3s gives 120 points.
When does the game end?
When every square is full. Plan merges so you always have space, and use the one undo per tile wisely.
