A favourite for children and a gentle workout for grown-up memory: all the cards are face down, you turn over two at a time, and when they match they stay up. Remember where you saw each picture to find every pair in as few moves as possible. Choose animals, fruit, travel, sports, numbers or letters, from 12 to 36 cards, alone or against a friend.
loading toolHow to play the memory game
- Choose a picture set and a size.
- Tap a card to turn it over, then tap another.
- If they match they stay face up; if not, they turn back after a moment.
- Find all the pairs to finish.
Good to know
- Work in a pattern, for example row by row, so you remember positions more easily.
- Say the picture names quietly to yourself as you turn them: it really helps.
Questions
How do two players take turns?
Players take turns turning over two cards. Find a pair and you score a point and go again; the turn passes to the other player only when the two cards do not match. The player with the most pairs at the end wins.
What is a good score?
With 16 cards (8 pairs) a perfect memory needs 8 moves, but 12–16 moves is a very good result. Your best number of moves for each size is saved.
Is it good for children?
Yes. Matching games help children practise attention, short-term memory and turn-taking. The numbers and letters sets double as early learning practice.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.
