Letter Tracing Online: Write A–Z, a–z, Hindi and Punjabi Letters with Your Finger

Handwriting practice that needs no paper. A big dotted letter appears on the pad; your child writes over it with a finger on a phone or tablet (or with a mouse or stylus) and presses Check. The tool compares the writing with the letter’s shape and gives one to three stars, so children can see how much they covered and how neatly. Choose capital letters, small letters, Hindi (अ to ह) or Punjabi Gurmukhi (ੳ to ੜ).

How to practise letter tracing

  1. Choose A–Z, a–z, Hindi or Gurmukhi at the top.
  2. Write over the dotted letter on the pad.
  3. Press Check to see the stars, then Clear to try again or ▶ for the next letter.
  4. Tap a colour to change the pen, or a letter tile to jump to it.

Good to know

  • A stylus or the side of a finger gives the smoothest lines on a tablet.
  • Turn the phone sideways if the pad feels small.
  • Hindi and Punjabi letters use your device’s built-in fonts, which are on all modern phones and computers.

Questions

How are the stars worked out?

The tool looks at how much of the letter is covered with ink and how much ink stayed close to the letter. Covering most of the letter while staying on the dotted lines earns three stars.

Does it check stroke order?

No. It checks the shape, not the order of the lines. Show your child the usual stroke order (generally top to bottom, left to right) and use “Try a sample” to see the full letter.

Can I print tracing sheets instead?

Yes: the Printable Worksheets tool makes tracing pages as a PDF.

Is it safe for children?

Yes. There is no chat, no sign-up and nothing to buy inside the activity. Nothing a child taps or types is sent anywhere. Like the rest of the site it shows a few ads around the page (never inside the activity), so younger children are best supervised.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
