Lend and Borrow Tracker: Remember Money Given to and Taken from Friends

Lending to friends and family is easy; remembering it is not. Write down every amount you give or take with the date, a note and an optional return-by date. As money comes back in parts, record it. The tracker shows how much each person owes you, how much you owe others, and which loans are past their date, with a polite WhatsApp reminder one tap away.

How to track money you lend or borrow

  1. Choose “I gave (lent)” or “I took (borrowed)”.
  2. Type the person’s name, the amount, the date and, if agreed, the return-by date.
  3. When some money comes back, tap ↩ on that entry and save the amount returned.
  4. Use 💬 to send a friendly reminder on WhatsApp for money you lent.

Good to know

  • Each person’s heading shows the net amount: if you lent ₹5,000, got ₹2,000 back and later borrowed ₹1,000, they owe you ₹2,000.
  • Switch to “All, with settled” to see the full history, including loans that were repaid.
  • Write what the money was for in the note; it makes reminders kinder and memories clearer.
  • Nothing is shared with the other person unless you send the reminder yourself.

Questions

Where is my data saved?

Only in this browser on this device, the way a chat app keeps chats on your phone. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Use Backup to save a copy as a file (Restore brings it back, even on another phone or computer), and back up before clearing your browser data. The My Data tool backs up every record tool in one go.

Does it add interest?

No. It tracks the amounts given and returned. If you agreed interest, add it as a separate entry.

Can I record a loan from a bank here?

You can, but bank loans are better in the EMI and loan calculators. This tool is for informal money between people.

What does “past due date” count?

Loans with a return-by date that has passed and money still left to return, in either direction.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything happens inside your own browser: nothing you type or choose is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it. Light ads keep the site running.
