Practise Hindi (हिंदी) typing without installing anything. With Inscript or Remington selected, just type on your normal English keyboard and Hindi appears: the on-screen keyboard shows the Hindi letter on every key and lights up the next key with the finger to use. Inscript is the Indian government standard that comes with Windows, Android and Mac. Remington (GAIL) follows the old typewriter layout used in many government typing tests, giving Unicode text. Practise single letters and syllables, common words or full sentences, and see your speed and accuracy.

Questions
Inscript or Remington: which should I learn?
Inscript is the standard built into every computer and phone and is easier to learn because it follows the order of the Hindi alphabet. Learn Remington if your exam or job asks for it: many government typing tests (for example SSC and some state exams) allow or require Remington GAIL or Kruti Dev.
Do I need to install a Hindi keyboard?
No. In Inscript and Remington mode the tool turns your normal keys into Hindi itself. Only choose “My Hindi keyboard” if you have already switched your computer or phone to a Hindi keyboard.
How is speed counted for Hindi?
One “word” is 5 keystrokes, the way most Hindi typing tests count. Matras and half letters each need their own key, so a Hindi word usually needs more keystrokes than it has letters.
Why does ि appear before the letter in Remington?
On the Remington typewriter the ि matra is typed before its consonant (f then d makes कि), as it is written. The tool puts it in the right Unicode order for you.
