Festivals and Public Holidays Calendar by Country (Any Year)

Plan leave, trips and celebrations with a holiday calendar for India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Nigeria, South Africa, Germany, France, Ireland, Greece and worldwide days. Fixed dates, Easter and Orthodox Easter, “first Monday” style holidays and weekend substitute days are worked out exactly for any year from 1900 to 2099. Islamic festivals are shown as approximate dates, and festivals that follow the moon or a local calendar, such as Diwali, Holi and Chinese New Year, are listed honestly with the months to check.

Questions

Why are Eid dates marked “approx.”?

Islamic months begin with the sighting of the new moon, which is announced locally. The tool uses the standard arithmetic Islamic calendar, which is usually right or one day off (sometimes two). Confirm the date with your local announcement.

Why are Diwali, Holi and Chinese New Year not given exact dates?

They follow lunar or lunisolar calendars (such as the Hindu Panchang and the Chinese calendar), which depend on detailed astronomical rules and sometimes on local tradition. Rather than risk a wrong date, the tool tells you the usual months so you can check a trusted local calendar.

What does “day off on…” mean?

When a holiday falls on a weekend, many countries give a weekday off instead: the US moves Saturday holidays to Friday and Sunday ones to Monday, while the UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia use the next working day. The tool shows that substitute day.

How do I add holidays to my phone calendar?

Press “Add to my calendar (.ics)” and open the downloaded file. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook all import it.
